Objections have come in over plans to build eight student flats in the town centre.
The application to convert the current car sales business on land between 12 and 14 Station Road into eight, one bedroom flats has been submitted to district council planners.
But Kenilworth Town Council has objected to the plans following concern over the lay out and design of the build and current site.
Members agreed that while they welcomed the need for small flats, the underpass or tunnel effect which would be created by building over the empty entrance way would not suit the look of the area which lies within a Conservation zone. They also raised concerns over parking issues.
And four separate objections have come in from residents along Station Road and nearby Priory Road claiming the move would have a “significantly detrimental impact” on the area, shortage of space to accommodate the proposed build and lack of parking provision on site.
The application will be determined in the New Year.
