Up to 93 houses could be on the way for Crackley Triangle as planners get set to discuss a long-awaited development.
Last summer, we revealed plans for a proposed development on land north of Common Lane when developers Bloor Homes began a community consultation.
And the proposal - which is made up of 93 homes, open space and improved access - may be given the green light next month when Warwick District Council’s planning committee makes a decision.
The plan, which includes 37 affordable homes, will also look at links with the Greenway and improved road access onto Common Lane.
The site in question sits in the middle of two areas of built up land, but has never been developed - despite being a popular option for years.
And a statement from the developers said they believed it was “an ideal site for residential development”.
But when the plan was first released 12 months ago, concern was raised by worried residents over traffic and impact on the open countryside.
One resident said he “could not understand” why the site would appeal, having views over the open countryside where the proposed High Speed Rail line will run, and so close to the existing railway.
Increased activity is expected on the line when the route from Leamington to Coventry is reopened for passengers through Kenilworth.
He also raised fears over traffic congestion and access.
Currently traffic travels through a pinch-point where a bridge crosses the Greenway and railway line.
The site is not in Green belt land and any houses approved will be considered independently to the Local Plan currently looking to place over 1,000 houses in Kenilworth.
It includes new access and a signalised junction onto Common Lane, a footpath and cycle links to the Greenway, landscaping and gardens.
The move was discussed by Kenilworth Town Council planners on Thursday.
