Lack of support for pavilion plan

Town council planners have rejected a bid to turn the current Castle Pavilion into a detached house.

The application for the Castle Road building has attracted interest from those living nearby with ten letters of objection being lodged.

These include objections on grounds that the build is inappropriate on Greenbelt land and not in keeping with the historic area around the castle grounds.

Comments have also been sent in over the potential impact a house would have on wildlife and earthworks.

Kenilworth Town Council’s planning committee has now unanimously objected to the proposals following the concern.

The application, by town and county councillor Alan Cockburn, will go before Warwick District Council planning committee next month for a decision to be made.
