A teenager got on his bike to bring in over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation in honour of his grandmother.

James Kelly and his dad Russell took to the road at Ryton Country Park on Sunday for the sponsored ride.

The 14-year old Kenilworth School pupil undertook the challenge in tribute to his grandma Sheila Bavington, who survived a heart attack over three years ago. And after raising over £500, his efforts were matched by family sponsor, Chris Kelly from Keltruck Ltd.

James’ elated mother Julie said: “We are all very proud of James and Russell for raising such a wonderful amount.”

And she said to support the boys in the charity challenge, she and her younger son Ryan joined them on the route.
