Never before seen photographs from the First World War will come to Kenilworth thanks to funding for centenary commemoration events.

The town community forum has handed out a share of £1,500 of Warwick District Council cash to support commemoration projects.

Applications came in from several groups and requests exceeded the available budget.

But after consideration of plans, the pot has now been divided up to help as many get off the ground as possible.

Burton Green residents association was granted £356 to help with a themed event in September for all ages.

More details will follow. The Kenilworth WW1 project group was given £700 to create leaflets of a guided walk around the town to streets affected by the war.

Midland Aircraft Recovery group was given £444 to digitally restore photographs taken from an aerodrome during the conflict, and display them around Kenilworth.

The project includes work to display a previously unseen image from the time.
