Former Warwick and Leamington MP James Plaskitt is the new patron of the Warwick district charity, Older People In Action.
Chairman Danaë Sheridan, who announced the appointment at the charity’s annual meeting last week, said: “We are very fortunate to have James as our patron. He has always been a staunch supporter and advocate on behalf of older people.”
Mervyn Eastment, co-director of national co-operative Change AGEnts, spoke at the meeting, urging senior citizens to “take control and change the narrative that older people are a burden on society”.
