The ford burst its banks early this morning, and water levels continued to rise as more and more rain fell.

Although cars could pass through the ford to begin with, eventually water levels became so high that some drivers who took the risk became trapped.

Castle Road was eventually shut by Warwickshire Police after a lorry careered through the ford, creating a wave which engulfed other cars that were stuck in the floodwater.

Signs on the ford warning system have now been illuminated, although Kenilworth resident Jim Dunlop claimed the signs were not on at 7.50am when he was by the ford.

The Castle Mere was also filled with water after the flooding.

Odibourne Allotments off School Lane flooded once again, having been flooded in February during the last period of torrential rain.
