Items dating back to the 1940s could help people living with dementia in Kenilworth Grange.
The Care UK home is calling for vintage items for the reminiscence room to help prompt residents’ memories.
Carer, Julie Packer, said: “It’s incredible how many memories are triggered by the sight of former household items such as ornaments, furniture, crockery and clothing.
“For us as care givers this is invaluable, because we are able to learn a lot more about the person, their past and their interests and that helps us build genuinely individual care around each of our residents. This in turn keeps them active and engaged.”
The home has a wide age range of residents with dementia, from aged 60 and up so the team is looking for any items from the 1940s right through to the 1970s.
The reminiscence room in the specialist dementia suite on Spring Lane, can be visited at any time by residents.
Anyone with suitable items can contact Julie or Peter Marriott on 680638.
