Councillors have sent get well wishes to Richard Davies who is awaiting heart surgery after collapsing at a civic evening in Warwick.
The chairman of Warwick District Council suffered a heart attack while speaking at a dinner earlier this month.
He collapsed in front of around 80 people and was given emergency CPR by mayor of Warwick Bob Dhillon before being rushed to hospital for treatment.
Vice chair Claire Sawdon, who has taken over his civic responsibilities, told members of the full council on Wednesday that he is now waiting until he is strong enough for a heart bypass operation which will “hopefully be shortly”.
She said that Mr Davies - also a Kenilworth town councillor - is ‘looking on the bright side of things’ and focusing on recovery despite still being very unwell.
Members all signed a card to be passed on and good wishes have come flooding in from fellow councillors across Kenilworth who are wishing for a ‘speedy and full recovery for their good friend’.
