Cash boost for playgroup’s new home

Spring Playgroup is one step closer to setting up permanent home in the town thanks to a £3,850 community grant.

The playgroup provides free childcare places for toddlers across the town, as well as offering support for those with learning difficulties and various adult training schemes.

The nursery group has now left its space at the Kenilworth Centre and setting up home in the Sports and Social Club.

But to be complete, work must be undertaken to make the space child-friendly, install a new entrance to keep families well away from the pub, install disabled facilities and to make sure the centre meets Ofsted standards.

Candy Evans, chair of trustees at the centre, said the funds would meet around one third of the costs needed to convert the space into a suitable play area.

“Since we have been in the club we have noticed a lot more which needs to be done to make sure we are approved by Ofsted,” she said.

The town’s community forum approved the £3,850 bid.
