Around 38 miles were swam by 120 swimmers competing in the 2013 Soroptimists’ charity Swimathon at Warwick School on Sunday.
And while sponsorship money is still being collected, the women of the Leamington and Warwick and Kenilworth branches of the Soroptimists collected close to £5,000 on the day. The total funds raised will be donated to the NSPCC’s Childline Schools service in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Coming out top for the most laps swum was a junior team from Leamington Swimming Club, who swam 88.
The trophy for the most funds raised is likely to go to either the Leamington Parkinson’s UK group or to the Leamington Specsavers team.
