Pushing against an open door

Re the front page of last week’s Kenilworth Weekly News.

The article which draws attention to the play equipment in the Abbey Fields caught my attention when I noticed that my friend Cllr Anne Blacklock is getting hot under the collar about this matter.

The reason I was surprised was that I understand that Cllr Blacklock is a serving member of the working party responsible for replacing play equipment, and I was therefore rather shocked that she appears to have forgotten that this playground equipment is due to be replaced in the next month or so as part of a ten year refurbishment recommitment made by our (Conservative) administration last year.

It would be very much a case of pushing against an open door to get up a petition in favour of play equipment which has been ordered and which is expected to arrive in about three weeks’ time. - Cllr Richard.I.G.Davies, vice-chairman Warwick District Council.
