Make public aware of town growth plans

It seems ironic that if your neighbour proposes an extension requiring planning permission then the district council will notify you and a planning site notice appear outside the house, but if the council proposes to build 770 houses by hijacking the green belt at the bottom of your garden then you will possibly be unaware of that unless you have read the Kenilworth Weekly News of May 18.

In order that people can respond to the council’s preferred options on development they have got to know about them in the first place. For this to happen I suggest that the District or Town Council should set up a display board in Talisman Square showing how the preferred options impact on Kenilworth.

This should cover the area of Thickthorn that is proposed to be taken for development and what is proposed within that area, and as it affects eastern Kenilworth particularly then perhaps something similar at the Leyes Lane shopping complex would be appropriate.

In addition the district council should mailshot all houses within half a mile of the proposed development with the details for Kenilworth so that everyone in the area can comment on the proposals if they wish to. - Richard Munday, Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth.
