Adversarial campaign past its sell-by date
The small activist fringe opposed to HS2 in Kenilworth are evidently staggered to meet a growing number of residents who support HS2 and often willing to expose StopHS2’s disingenuous campaigning tactics.
In the short time that I spent at the HS2 Information Day in Kenilworth in October, where I was able to raise important questions and seek clarifications highlighting both sides of the polarising proposals; I was labelled by a prominent StopHS2 member a ‘paid for campaigner’, a ‘speculative property buyer’, ‘working for ARUP” (the infrastructure consultants) and when that failed, the faintly racist “fatcat arab”. You know this group are clutching for straws when this happens.
The apology I subsequently received from Jerry Marshall, Chair of AGHAST was accepted in full. It was also reassuring to hear that Warwickshire County Council have begun to engage professionally and productively with HS2 Ltd to secure the best possible mitigation for its residents, somewhat distancing itself from the adversarial campaign past its sell-by date. - Ananda Roy, address supplied.
