Children can be inspired by former Team GB athletes who are coming to Leamington for a Festival of Sport next month.

Leamington charity Kids Run Free, which organises free running activities for children around the country, is hosting the event at the Pump Room Gardens on Saturday June 11, and the charity has confirmed that sprinter Owusu Dako - who represented Great Britain in the 1996 Olympics - and marathon runner Peter Frazier - who has won gold Olympic medals in Athens in 1982 and Sydney in 1997 - will be attending.

The festival will kick off at 10am with a Kids Marathon event and run until 2pm, with displays, activities and family fun throughout the day.

The event is being supported by Chris White MP, Love Leamington, 29th May 1961 Trust, Heart of England Community Fund, Warwickshire Town Council, Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs and Wright Hassall.

Chris White said: “The Festival of Sport will be an excellent showcase of what is on offer locally and a great family event. Promoting sport and healthy lifestyles is important and I pay tribute to Kids Run Free for their work in this area.”

All children who go along will receive a free goody bag. Visit www.kidsrunfree.co.uk/site/festival-of-sport-2016
