Church volunteers are offering support to help hundreds of Christian families caught up in conflict in the Gaza strip.

The Kenilworth-based charity Friends of the Holy Land has launched the Gaza appeal to help upto 300 families now left in the war-torn land out of a population of 1.9 million.

All funds collected in the town will go directly to those named families recommended by Fr Jorge - parish priest at the Church of the Holy Family.

The charity operates out of an office at 2 Station Road as one of several regional bases.

Vice-chairman Peter Rand has visited Gaza and the church to see first hand what donations can do and has urged anyone interested to take part.

Visit or visit the Station Road office to find out more on the appeal and making donations.
