Fewer test positive for drink/drug driving in Warwickshire

The number of people caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Warwickshire following a collision has gone down since the previous year.

During roadside breath tests in December, 36 people either refused to give a test or tested positive for drink or drugs. A further six people - 3.4 per cent - refused to give a test or tested positive for drink or drugs following a collision. This compares to 5.1 per cent tested in December 2012.

Superintendent Lee Davenport said: “Our figures show that we are moving in the right direction but enforcing the drink driving law is a year round activity for Warwickshire Police and will continue to be a priority throughout 2014.”
