Leamington man pleads guilty to 40 child sex offences

A 38-year-old man from Leamington pleaded guilty to 40 child sexual offences yesterday (Friday March 17).

Andrew Pykett, of Clarendon Avenue, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, appeared at Warwick Crown Court and pleaded guilty to: 20 counts of sexual activity with a child, seven counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming, two counts of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming,

One count of Trafficking within the UK for sexual exploitation, one count of taking indecent photographs of a child, six counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of making an indecent image of a child, and two counts of drug possession.

The offences took place between 2004 and 2016 and involved ten victims, aged between 13 and 16 and from South Yorkshire, Essex, London, Wiltshire, South Wales, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chesterfield and the United States.

Detective Sergeant Collette O’Keefe said: “We built a significant case against Pykett, leading to his guilty pleas at court today. This forms part of Warwickshire’s multi-agency child sexual exploitation team commitment to tackle child sexual exploitation.”

Pykett has been remanded in custody by the court and will be sentenced on Friday May 12.
