A dedicated duo are making a plea for help after starting up a family help service but lacking in vital storage space.

Jo and Jayne Sherratt have been collecting and donating clothes, food, toys and household items to vulnerable families this winter.

After starting with a plea on social media for blankets to give to the homeless, things soon rocketed and the friends even managed to buy presents and Christmas Day hampers complete with turkey and crackers for four desperate families in the town thanks to the generosity of residents.

But Jayne said with donations piling in faster than they can be sent out, they are in desperate need of storage to keep up the good work.

“I started by collecting coats and blankets and was asked if I wanted toy donations,” she said. “We found four families that needed help and so we started collecting bedding, toys, children’s clothes, even televisions that we hoped would help.

“To wake up on Christmas morning knowing you have helped a family and children have a day they wouldn’t ever have had is incredible.”

But she said as the pair now have garages and even their cars overflowing with donations, storage space is desperately needed for the good work to continue.

Jayne, who lives and works in Kenilworth, explained that the turnaround of donated items being handed out is very fast but that space is still needed desperately.
