Arrests over stabbing of 2nd Fusiliers soldier.

A SOLDIER serving with a regiment formed in Warwickshire was killed on Sunday in Cypress.

Three UK tourists accused of murdering 19-year-old David Lee Collins, from Manchester, appeared in court on the island on Monday.

The family of Mr Collins, who served with the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, which was formed in Warwickshire, have been informed.

Mr Collins was stabbed to death in a nightclub in the resort of Ayia Napa.

The three men, two aged 17 and one aged 19, had been remanded in custody for eight days by Farnagusta District Court.

The Ministry of Defence has banned soldiers from Ayia Napa’s centre after past trouble.

Troops from the 2nd Fusiliers, which was recently posted to the former British colony, are among more than 3,000 British personnel stationed there.

Thousands of veterans and supporters recently marched through London to show their support for the regiment, which the Government plans to axe in 2014.
