Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Warwick on Saturday night in which a vehicle was driven off after officers had tried to stop it.

Two men are now being treated in hospital after the incident after the red Volkswagen Golf in which they were travelling hit a tree and a wall in Spinney Hill.

The passenger,25, suffered head injuries and the driver, 26, suffered abdominal injuries.

The two men in the car had to be cut out by fire officers and both were taken to the University Hospital in Coventry.

Officers on routine patrol in the town became aware of the vehicle, which was suspected of an offence.

They attempted to stop the vehicle in Emscote Road at about 11.50pm but the car drove off towards Greville Road.
