‘Amazing efforts’ to get sprouts up Snowdon

Balsall Common’s wackiest fundraiser has completed his maddest challenge yet after pushing a sprout all the way up Snowdon in just four days.

Stuart Kettell spent the time painstakingly crawling up Mount Snowdon on his hands and knees while pushing Brussels sprouts with his nose.

Getting through 22 tiny vegetables and suffering agonising knee and elbow pain, the determined father-of-three has now completed his eighth ‘mad’ challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.

After hitting the headlines on his first day of the 1,085metre climb, Stuart’s unusual story was spread across the internet.

And as a result, he has passed his £5,000 fundraising target with 370 donations coming in from Europe and impressed walkers who passed him on the trail and praised his ‘amazing efforts’.

Attracting interest from walkers along the route - he told passers by: “It hurt my arms, my legs, my feet, my knees and my neck.”

Despite not knowing exactly how much cash he has collected this far for the climb, Stuart said every penny will be added to £40,000 already raised for Macmillan over the past eight years.

And the self proclaimed ‘mad fool’ said he will keep going with wackier and wackier challenges to help the charity.

Speaking about the feat, the 49-year-old said: “This is the maddest craziest challenge I’ve come up with so far.

“It has never been attempted before, and I wonder why.”

Stuart - who works as a film maker - was filmed along his route and is expected to upload the footage to his website www.willthemadfoolmakeit.co.uk in the coming weeks.

He is committed to helping the cancer charity and is already thinking of ways to top his latest efforts.
