Tributes paid to Thorns governor

Following many years service as a Governor at Thorns Community Infant School, Margaret Preston has recently retired.
The Chair of Governors at Thorns', Ed Hart, said: "Margaret has worked incredibly hard for the school for many years. During Margaret's time as a Governor the school has recruited a new head teacher, and seen many improvements, not least of which is the improvement of the OFSTED report to Good - with elements of Outstanding. I would like to recognise the contribution that Margaret has made, most of which went on unappreciated and unseen."
As a result of Margaret's retirement, an opportunity now exists for someone from the local community to join Thorns' School as a Governor.
The role of a community governor is to help ensure the highest standards are being set and followed by the school, and to support the head teacher.
Anyone with some time to spare, and the drive and enthusiasm to help a good school become outstanding should get in touch with the schools office.
