The quest to find Miss Kenilworth Carnival Queen 2009 has been launched.
Married or single girls aged between 15 and 25 on carnival day July 4, are being called upon to enter this year’s contest.
A special choosing ceremony will be held tomorrow night, Saturday, February 21, from 7pm at the Priory Theatre on Rosemary Hill, Kenilworth.
During the evening, two runners-up for the position of Queen will be chosen as the Maids of Honour and there will be junior attendants too.
Four junior attendants will be selected, two girls and two boys.
Girls must be aged between eight and 11 years inclusive on carnival day and boys must be aged between six and nine years.
All entrants must live in Kenilworth or one of the surrounding villages of Honiley, Ashow, Crackley, Leek Wootton, Hill Wootton, Beausale, Burton Green or Meer End.
Applicants must be prepared to participate in the Carnival on July 4 and attend various Kenilworth events throughout the year.
Last year the chosen Miss Kenilworth Carnival Queen was Francesca Barnett, 15, of Station Road in the town, and her Maids of Honour were Caroline Dealtry and Laura Dunning.
Francesca’s crown will be handed to a new Queen for the year that will be expected to lead the carnival in a special royal float and attend a number of functions in Kenilworth throughout the year.
Prizes this year include £100 for the chosen Miss Kenilworth Carnival Queen, £50 for her Maids of Honour and the junior attendants will each receive £10.
In addition to that, all winners will receive a souvenir portrait photograph.
All prizes will be awarded at an official presentation evening later in the year. Winners from previous years are not eligible to enter.
