Former England rugby international and British Lions player John Bentley, who is better known as Bentos, was in Kenilworth last week as part of the KRFC Pirates 30th Anniversary celebrations.
The celebrations are being staged in conjunction with Wooden Spoon, the rugby charity supporting socially, mentally and physically disadvantaged children in the UK.

Whilst in Kenilworth he called in to try some fish and chips from Alfie Grimshaw’s on Priory Road.

His visit also marked an important time for Alfie Grimshaw’s with all the essential Severn Trent works and road closures around the shop being completed.

David Blackburn owner of Alfie Grimshaw’s said: “The works started on the same day that we opened for business last October so it is great that we are now so easily accessible and having Bentos visit to confirm that we are achieving the mark with our food was very special.”

John Bentley added: “It is great to see a shop sticking to the traditional fish and chip shop menu. I shall look forward to visiting again when I am next back in the area.”
