District editor Lucia Clifford writes about her forthcoming marriage.
If you're a fellow bride-to-be then the world of the wedding fayre will be one you are very familiar with right now.
As the summer season closes and 2008 brides begin to make those all-important decisions, wedding fayres are the best way to get tips, ideas and find the people to make it happen.
This month sees the launch of a new bridal boutique in town, Quello,
and to mark the event, a wedding fayre has been organised for September 24 at Leicester's Gatehouse at Kenilworth Castle.
Quello and The English Heritage team at the castle will be inviting brides-to-be to the evening launch of Quello.
Champagne and canapés will be on offer followed by a fashion show and during the evening, Clare Crabtree, owner of Quello, will take time to talk about the designers and their work and will also be available to offer advice on what works well for different shapes and sizes.
She said: "We are incredibly passionate about what we do as are the designers we've been working with to come up with this fabulous collection. Brides today have their own ideas in relation to the style and theme of their wedding day and how in particular they want to look and feel. Leicester's Gatehouse at the Castle is the perfect venue to show the dresses in all their glory."
Steven Bax, head of visitor operations for Kenilworth Castle added: "Weddings and receptions at Kenilworth Castle are very much aimed at local couples, so it is especially appropriate for us to be supporting a new Kenilworth business in this way. We hope the launch will attract many local brides-to-be, who will be able to enjoy looking at Clare's lovely gowns in the magnificent surroundings of the medieval castle, which is so much a part of the community's history."
Other local businesses will be supporting the event. Harringtons on the Hill will provide the canapés and have wedding menus to take away.
Jane Evans will decorate the venue with flower arrangements and the models will carry her bouquets to give inspiration and ideas.
Photographer Jeremy Eastaugh will also be there to offer advice and information on photography packages.
Attendance at the launch evening, which takes place from 6.30pm to 9pm, is free, but by invitation only. Anyone interested should contact Clare Crabtree on 858835, clare@quellobride.co.uk.
