A club set up by Kenilworth resident the late Brian Snook MBE has celebrated its 40th anniversary with some of the founder's relatives as guests of honour.
The Coventry Group of Advanced Motorists celebrated the milestone at the Jaguar Sports and Social Club in Coventry.

The event also included the annual meeting to celebrate 40 years since the Coventry and District group was inaugurated.

The meeting attracted the highest attendance for many years and had several special guests.

The group was set up by Brian Snook following an initial meeting at the Leofric Hotel in April 1968 after his employers, the Automobile Association, were concerned over standards of driving by some AA patrolmen. From the Coventry group, other groups were soon formed in Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Brian passed away in 2001 and after an appeal in the Kenilworth Weekly News, Brian's daughters made contact with the group, who were able to invite them to the celebrations .

During the evening, certificates were presented to several long standing members and the group itself was awarded a special certificate for reaching the 40 year milestone.
