Bellringers at St Nicholas Church in Kenilworth have been busy raising money to help people build peace in Africa and Asia.
All the money raised throughout 2008 will be given to support the work of the local charity CORD which is the charity adopted by Kenilworth Mayor, Coun Pat Ryan.
Church members sometimes sponsor Sunday ringing to celebrate special events - birthdays, anniversaries- and their donations are given to a specified good cause, chosen by the ringers, at the end of the year.
Peter Spencer, from the church's bellringers: “The church has been supporting CORD's work for several years and this year, we wanted to add our support too. Kenilworth is very lucky to have such wonderful bellringers," said Councillor Ryan. "I am delighted that, like several other organisations in Kenilworth, they are supporting CORD's work this year."
Anyone who would like to join the St Nicholas bellringers should contact Rosemary Spencer on 856204.
Proceeds from the bellringing will help CORD expand their work amongst the people of Darfur, Uganda, Burundi and Cambodia as well as start new programmes in DR Congo, Sierra Leone and Burma.
