Royalty has been officially crowned this week as the new Miss Kenilworth Carnival Queen 2009 was presented with her tiara and sash ready for the big day.
Kym Bradley, 25, of Bullimore Grove in the town is Kenilworth's newest carnival queen.

The 2008 carnival queen, Francesca Barnett, handed back her crown after a full year of events she was invited to attend to represent the town.

Kym, who will be expected to carry out similar duties over the next 12 months, was chosen at a special ceremony held at the Priory Theatre.

The event was sponsored by businessman Mick Marshall who will also sponsor the carnival queen this year.

Kym's first royal duty will be to lead this year's procession on carnival day, July 4, when she will be joined by a number of attendants.

Her maids of honour will be Nikki Edwards, 17, of Saville Grove, Kenilworth, and Katie Bolshaw, 15, of Tintagel Road, Kenilworth. On the night two flower girls were also chosen.

They are Katy Taylor of Wordsworth Drive, Kenil- worth, and Alicia Russell of Guy Road in Kenilworth.

Her page boys, also chosen on the night, will be Enrico Bucci of Moseley Road, Kenilworth, and Sam Hart of Whitemoor Road, Kenilworth.

A number of entrants turned out on the night in the hope of claiming the top spot or becoming an attendant to the queen.

Residents of Kenilworth or one of the surrounding villages of Honiley, Ashow, Crackley, Leek Wootton, Hill Wootton, Beausale, Burton Green or Meer End were able to compete for the title.

For being crowned Miss Kenilworth Carnival Queen, Kym will receive £100, her maids of honour will each receive £50 and the junior attendants will each receive £10.

In addition to their cash prizes, all winners will receive a souvenir portrait photograph.

All prizes will be awarded at an official presentation evening later in the year.
