Town councillors have dubbed the first Best Window Display competition in Kenilworth as a 'great success'.
The competition was launched earlier this year in a bid to praise and recognise retailers who make an effort with the windows or frontages of their businesses. Pauline’s hairdressers became the first winner of the competition in early April and councillors are ‘delighted’ at the success.

Coun George Illingworth said: “We have done the right thing from the organisation to the presentation. It is a wonderful trophy, perfect for a window competition. Sylvesters Jewellers gave it to us at cost price to support the initiative.”

Coun Ann Blacklock added: “It was a great success. I am so chuffed and I know Pauline is chuffed to be the first winner.”

Spring-themed windows and shop-front displays in Kenilworth were all in with a chance of winning the title in the new town council initiative.

The competition is open to all Kenilworth businesses including restaurants, book shops, hairdressers and charity shops and is not just for those situated in more central locations.

Shop and business owners are invited to get as creative as they like for the competition that will be judged four times a year; every Easter, September, Halloween and Christmas.
