Green turns to gold for keen gardeners

The winners of Kenilworth's best gardens and blooms have been officially presented with their prizes.
An awards ceremony was held at the British Legion Club, Albion Street in Kenilworth.

The results of the eighth Kenilworth in Bloom competition were first announced in August with residents, pubs, businesses, churches and residential homes all taki
ng awards for their floral talents.

The large front garden category was won by Rob and Bet Faulconbridge of Sunningdale Avenue who were presented with a Gold trophy at the awards night for their display.

In the small front garden category the winners were Theresa Thomas of Moseley Road, and Patricia Lambert who were all awarded gold.

Silver awards went to David Pettifor of Malthouse Lane, Cecie Davies of Albion Street, Ernest Ball of Thornby Avenue, Jack Frost of Siddeley Avenue and Di and Alan Flowers of Webster Road.

Binnie Barnes of Albion Street took the top prize of Gold in the frontage-only category with Gary Clark of St Nicholas Avenue taking the Silver.

In the pubs and clubs category Gold awards went to the British Legion on Albion Street and the Queen and Castle on High Street, while the Engine Inn at Mill End took the Silver.

Enderley Guest House on Queens Road in the town scooped the Gold in the restaurants, guesthouses and hotels category with Seetar Restaurant in Warwick Road taking the Silver.

Shops, offices and churches were also asked to enter. Gold awards went to Town and Country Furniture at Abbey End and St Nicholas church.

Servite House residential home in John Nash Square was awarded a Gold in the residential homes category.
