Fundraising footballer Robbie Harris backed the British Heart Foundation - and his team-mates' families - by organising a charity auction packed with celebrity lots.
Mr Harris hit upon the idea after two players from the Kenilworth Wardens Saturday side lost a total of four family members to heart conditions last year.
The event at the Glasshouse Lane clubhouse last weekend featured former Villa and England international Tony Morley and ex-Coventry City and Wales star David Phillips as guest speakers. A total of £2,300 was raised, split between the charity and club.
Top lots included a signed shirt from Wayne Rooney which went for £650 and a limited edition print of the late-great racehorse Best Mate, complete with owner's signature.
There was also the chance to bid for two pieces of sporting history - an Aston Villa shirt from the 1982 1-0 European Cup Final victory over Bayern Munich and one from Leamington's slightly less auspicious FA Cup encounter with Colchester United.
Wrestling legend and Mayfair security owner Tony 'Banger' Walsh hosted the evening.
Mr Harris said: "Thanks to the great response it was a fantastic night which will benefit the Heart Foundation and Wardens. The relatives of the those who tragically died last year turned out in force, as well as club members, and we thank all for their support.
"I'd also like to say a big thank you to Darren Bradley, Eddie Mizskowski, Rob Hill, Chris Adams, Tim Frost, Linda and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make sure the night went superbly well - we couldn't have done it without your help."
