A YOUNG band from Rugby are hoping to make an impression on the town's music scene after releasing their first album.
TreeFingers, a four-piece group made up of 17-year-old students at Warwickshire College, have released 'WakeUp' on their website.

And the band, who play a unique style of indie pop music are hoping to follow this up with a succession of gigs in the town.

Guy Grimshaw, the band's singer and guitarist said the group are looking to get some exposure in the coming months.

"We formed about a year ago out of a jam session that I used to hold with Mike Bissett - our guitarist," he said.

"And since then we've signed to a local record label and set up our own website - it's all happened quite quickly.

"We've played at the Courthouse, The Bull and O'Hagans before it closed and those gigs went pretty well. Hopefully, we can do some more."

The group plan to release a CD before Christmas and to play their unique style of music across the region.

Guy added: "We named ourselves after the Radiohead song TreeFingers and I would say that Radiohead is a big influence on our music.

"We're also big fans of The Beatles, but I think we have our own style of music that varies slightly from song to song."

With the group due to finish their college education in a year's time - the band are unsure what the long term future holds.

Guy added: "Obviously, we don't know whether or not we'll be going off to Uni or starting jobs so we really don't know what will happen - we're not thinking too far ahead just yet.

"We're just happy to keep on playing and do as many gigs as we can for the foreseeable future."

Treefingers play at Robbin's Well, Leamington on Wednesday September 12 at 8pm.
