Leamington’s sparkling squad among UK’s best

Congratulations have gone out to young atheletes from Leamington and surrounding areas who won 19 top four-placed trophies in this year’s National Cheerleading Championships.

A squad of 70 - aged between five and 30 - from the Royal Leamington Sparklers performed 23 routines at the event at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester that won them five 1st, seven 2nd, three 3rd and four 4th place titles.

And their skills so impressed judges that the cheerleaders have been selected to take three of their routines to Italy in June to represent the UK at the European Cheerleading Champions. Only one other team was asked to perform so many routines.

The Sparklers are performing at the Rugby4Heroes event at Leamington Rugby Club this weekend (May 3 to 5).
