Concert series at historical Warwick church
ONE of Warwick’s oldest churches will host a series of concerts on Sundays from February to November.
St Nicholas church will welcome two wind quintets, two organists, a flautist and its own choir among others.
The concerts will start at 3 pm, and last just over an hour. Entrance will be completely free, and interval refreshments can be bought for a nominal price.
Funds raised form retiring collections after each concert will go towards the restoration of the church.
The Rev Linda Vickers said: “We want people to see the church as an integral part of the community, even for those who do not wish to worship there. It’s important, too, for those who might wish to come to services but feel a bit intimidated about coming to a place they don’t know, to get familiar with the building and some of the people who work and worship there, and realise that we’re really a friendly bunch and just like them.”
The first concert will be given by the Syrinx Wind Quintet at 3 pm on February 17 and details of the other concerts will be announced in the Courier and Weekly News What’s On guide, on the church’s notice boards and on posters in Warwick supermarkets.
