Threatened by this ungentlemanly conduct

ON Wednesday, May 7, I went to Sainsbury's in Warwick to get a few things. As I am more than seven months pregnant I parked in the parent and child spaces.
After completing my shopping, I began to reverse out of the space and an elderly gentleman stopped me and began reading the sign.
He was angry that I was parked in the spot. As I was sitting down, I thought that he might not have seen my belly and so I got out of the car to explain that as I was heavily pregnant as was allowed to park in the spot.
To my surprise, instead of apologising, he continued to tell me off, saying that you had to have a pushchair to park in that spot.
I feel quite fragile and was left shaken up by this event.
When I returned home, I checked with Sainsbury's Careline and, yes, pregnant women are entitled to park in these spots.
I am sure that specialist parking spaces like parent and child and disabled spaces do get abused by some members of the public.
But, people should think carefully before passing comment to others as it could make some feel quite threatened. - Samantha Thompson, Warwick.
