I would like to pass on my very grateful thanks to members of Castle Hill Baptist church who recently slept outside overnight in order to raise funds for our charity "Christian Community Ministries".
We fully sponsor Emanuel Childrens' Home in the city of Cluj-Napoca, in Transylvania, Romania, a home where we can accommodate up to twelve poor and needy children and provide them with a warm, caring, loving environment in which to grow and develop.
We are only allowed to introduce children who are seven years of age or older, but we have witnessed children as young as four years old living out on the streets having to survive in terrible conditions in a city where the winter temperatures can reach as low as 30 degrees below freezing. That is as cold as your freezer at home.
If it were not for the goodness and generosity of the public and people such as the members of Castle Hill church, the children at Emanuel Home would not be able to recieve their second chance at life.
These children now go to normal school and are doing very well with their studies. They now have ambitions for their lives such as, being an artist, a dance teacher, a social worker.
Please remember all the poor unfortunate children in Romania who do not have anywhere warm to sleep, and when you climb into your warm cosy bed tonight, spare them a thought, and say a little prayer for them. Thank you to all who took part in the sleepout.
We at the charity know is not an easy, nor an enjoyable thing to do, to sleep out in the cold wet dark night. Your efforts will not go unrewarded. God Bless You. - Maxwell Keelty, Runcorn Road, Northwich, Cheshire.
