NOT satisfied with doubling the council tax since 1999, WDC has put it up another 4.5 per cent although inflation stands at only 0.1 per cent – this equates to a 45 per cent rise for us to pay.
Council's say they have to put up rates because people are not using the car parks and swimming pools. The way things are going we won't be using anything.
Most of our money is being used to subsidise the inflation linked wages and pensions and the ever increasing salary bill of the burgeoning staff for all the non-jobs in the quango crazy local government offices.
It's time WDC was made to issue proper itemised statements of all expenditure.
I'd like to know how much taxpayer's money is being used for council staff wages, pensions and redundancies?
How many council staff are employed in 2008 compared with 2007 and 2006?
How many jobs have been created in local government since Labour took office in 1997?
We should know where our money is being spent, as all we get now is less and less services for more and more of our money. - George Sullivan, Pinehurst, Leamington.
