Kenilworth's Mayoress is organising a Lenten 'Simple Lunch' in aid of this year's Mayoral charity, CORD.
Mayoress Joan Ryan is a supporter of CORD's work among people affected by violent conflict in Africa and Asia. She and her husband, Mayor Coun Pat Ryan, have devoted their year to boosting the charity's funds from civic events through to Mrs Ryan babysitting.

She said: "CORD are based in Leamington and the way they are trying to help the world's most vulnerable people - especially the children - who have lived through such turmoil is only to be admired.

"The food stuff is very kindly being provided by The Angel Hotel in Leamington so I hope everyone will come along to enjoy a simple lunch and make a donation to help CORD staff with their vital work."

Ghislain Niyonzima, one of CORD's local staff from Burundi who's on a training course in the UK, will be talking briefly during the lunch about the work being done with CORD in his country.

The lunch is at St Francis Catholic Church Hall, Warwick Road, Kenilworth, on Saturday March 15 between 12pm and 2pm. Tickets are available from Mrs Ryan on 779920.
