Warwickshire people with links to those who served in the First World War have been offered the chance to attend a national memorial service at Westminster Abbey.
The service has been arranged following the deaths of Henry Allingham and Harry Patch, the last UK residents to have fought in the Great War.

Each county has been offered a number of seats at the service, on November 11, and the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Martin Dunne, has been asked to nominate six people connected to servicemen or women.

The Queen and His The Duke of Edin-burgh will be present and the service will be broadcast live BBC television audiences.

Mr Dunne said: "This will be a wonderful occasion where the whole country can remember, and pay tribute, to all those who fought in the First World War.

"It is fitting that representatives are being drawn from throughout the country and we expect that many people will wish to be included."

Applications should include full contact details and the nominee's connection with the First World War.

The deadline is Tuesday, September 29. For an opportunity to be included, write to the Warwickshire Lieutenancy Office, 3 Northgate Street, Warwick CV34 4SP, email: lieutenancy@warwickshire.gov.uk
