A HEALTH worker has braved the elements and pushed her fitness to the limit to raise more than £1,000 as a thank-you gift to Warwick Hospital.

Natalie Jenkins, who works as an occupational therapy assistant at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, took on the Wolf Run near Offchurch with a group of friends to raise the money for the site’s Aylesford Unit.

The team, which, as well as Natalie, included Tom Pett, Steve Blakeman, Nick Collen, Marcus Ferguson and Amy Lofthouse, gathered £1,015 in sponsorship for the unit, where Natalie’s mother has received treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), an illness of the bone marrow.

The Wolf Run is on a 10k off-road course through woodland and involves a series of physical challenges and obstacles made from man-made and natural materials - including lake swims, mud pits, fallen trees, boggy ground, ditches, hills and dense foliage.

Maureen Walker, the trust’s manager of cancer services, said: “I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to Natalie and her friends for donating so generously. We rely on donations such as this to enhance our service”
