Thousands in support of tax

A PETITION by the owner of Kenilworth Books against the lack of UK tax paid by retail giant Amazon already has over 7,000 signatures.

Francis Smith said she was amazed by the support for the cause after launching the online petition aimed at persuading multi-national company Amazon to pay more corporation taxes in the UK.

Mrs Smith, who organised the petition with her husband Keith who runs Warwick Books, said: “We have nothing whatsoever against Amazon but we could all offer discounts to customers if we didn’t have to pay so much tax.”

Multi-national Amazon is registered in Luxembourg.
