BICYCLES pulling Santa and his sleigh through the night sky have captured the eyes of the judges to take first place in a Winter Wonderland window display competition.

The festive display in the window of Mike Vaughan Cycles took first prize in the annual competition and won the shop a trophy and bottle of champaign.

The display was created by stall Charlie Huckerbery, Dan Underwood and Ray Wilson from the shop, and staff are looking froward to getting involved in next year’s event.

The team beat 27 entries across the town to impress the four judges and take top spot.

Councillor Shirley Shilton, judging, said the display had the “real wow factor” and thanked all businesses for taking part to help “brighten up the town” for Christmas.

“The team in the shop did so well and we had a great response to the event,” she said.

The window display competition is run four times each year and the next set of entries will come in over Easter.

Runners up were Headway Charity shop and Davies Bakery who were each presented with a bottle of champagne.
