New names for Christmas pups

POLICE puppies born into the West Midlands force have been named after an internet call for ideas.

The West Midlands Force asked for the public’s help with ideas for names beginning with 0 when the litter of Springer spaniels were born on December 8 at Balsall Common’s breeding and training centre.

The pups have been called; Odem, Orville, Osca, Oreo, Olivia, Olympia, Oriel, Oxo and Oasis.

The nine spaniel pups will be trained as specialist search dogs to hunt for weapons, drugs, cash, stolen items and even explosives.
