Generation gap is bridged at festive do

YOUNG musicians and cooks have provided a festive afternoon of entertainment for elderly people in Long Itchington.
The village’s Wednesday Club has been working with Long Itchington Primary School for the past three years on an annual Christmas lunch, at which pupils perform carols and other musical renditions for members and then serve them sandwiches and cakes they have prepared themselves.
Some 34 members – all of whom are over-60 – were guests at this year’s event, which took place at the school before the end of term.
Les Tooby of the club said: “The children love it and the elderly people love it. They mix ever so well. The children put a lot of effort in.”
The Wednesday Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the village’s community centre for talks, outings and lunches. For further details, call Les or Jill Toobey on 812269.
