Find out about volunteering at Leamington event

BEING a DJ for a hospital radio station and clearing a woodland are among the many wide-ranging volunteering opportunities being offered by Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA).

The organisation’s volunteer centre is holding a ‘volunteer shop’ at the Royal Priors shopping centre in Leamington on Thursday to give people a wider understanding of what roles they can fill in and around south Warwickshire.

Chris Lancaster from the centre said: “There are all kinds of opportunities people of all ages can get involved with – you could be a classroom assistant, DJ with hospital radio, befriend people, transport the elderly or those with disabilities, use your management skills on a committee, raise funds, answer a telephone helpline, improve the life of young people, make lunch at a day club, clear woodland, help with paperwork or lend a hand in one of the charity shops. There will be something out there for you.

“Whatever your background, volunteering could be benefiting your life. As well as gaining new skills, you’ll be meeting new people having fun and you can put it on your CV too.“

The event takes place from 10am to 2pm. To find out more, call Chris on 477512 or email chris@wcava.org.uk
