Drivers falling victim to scam

POLICE are warning people to think twice after Balsall Common drivers were conned by a man claiming to have run out of fuel.

The Meriden and Bickenhill neighbourhood policing team said people on Kenilworth Road and in the Meriden area were approached by a man claiming to have run out of fuel with no means to buy more.

They said the man was driving a silver Toyota or Hyundai and offered jewellery in exchange for a loan which turned out to be fake.

Sgt Craig Hurst said: “The man sounded very plausible and assured the victims that he would get in touch the following day. He gave them gold jewellery in the meantime which wasn’t genuine.”

Any information to Solihull police on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
