Collections back on time

BIN collections are now back on track after delays over the week when snow and ice hit the district.

Collections of recycling and rubbish were held off due to dangerous icy conditions on the town’s roads over the past two weeks.

But residents have been assured that services are now back to normal and that bins not collected will be taken if they are put out on the next scheduled collection day.

Cllr Dave Shilton (Con, Parkhill) said the collections were disrupted due to adverse weather conditions but that safety had to come first. “We apologise that the collections were disrupted but it was simply not safe for workers to go out in those conditions,” he said.

He praised council workers for keeping roads safe and clear during the cold snap.
