CHUFFED train lovers had an exciting glimpse of a regal steam locomotive when The Princess Elizabeth made its way through Kenilworth on Tuesday morning.

The train made its way across the town’s tracks as part of an excursion from Slough to Chester.

And the sight was welcomed across the town with residents coming out to take a look as the regal locomotive caused a stir of excitement along the tracks.

Town historian, Robin Leach, said they see it travelling through around once every 18 months, each time with different engines and on its way to different locations.

The train is an ex LMS railway Princess Royal class, named after the queen when she was still a young princess in 1933, and was the engine parked on the bridge over the Thames during the flotilla earlier this year.
