The workshops are part of the Opening Doors project, which aims to help any woman in Warwickshire, whatever her age or background, set up and run her own business.

Each one is designed to give practical information on how to become self-employed and subjects may include finance, writing a business plan and marketing.

The programme starts with a taster session, More to Life, during in which participants are encouraged to think about what sort of business they could start and whether being their own boss would suit them.

Helen Allen, the project officer for Warwickshire, said: "I'd like to encourage any woman who's stuck in a rut and feels she needs a change to come along. Perhaps your children have just gone off to school or university and you're feeling that you'd now like to do something for yourself.

"Many women don't have the confidence to set up their own business; we hope to inspire them and show them that they can."
